We are trying to "trim" our budget and have started doing haircuts at home, which can be pretty messy! I thought this $5 cape might help. It is really lightweight polyester, measuring 27.5” x 30”, with a Velcro neck closure that adjusted to fit my toddler, my husband, and all the kids in between! Worn backwards, it does help keep cut hairs from itching. My tween daughter has also used it for doing "makeovers" and playing spa with her friends. It has been used more than expected, and is holding up great. I love that it is machine washable — I tossed it in cold cycle, and then line/hung dry. Great product for HMU, too, and keeping costumes clean for theatre and film work! Keeping it in our actor bag.

    Love this! Absolutely perfect for when you need to do your hair and have already dressed in what you plan to wear for the day, or for when you need to freshen your hair mid day. Keeps hair and "flakes" from curl iron and/or brush from getting on your clothes. Also it is not too big, so not confining your arms.

    The product photos show two different capes. This one is the shorter one and it has velcro, not buttons. Velcro is preferable to me because it’s faster to fasten. The velcro could catch on certain types of clothing, so that’s one downside. The cape is very thin and lightweight. It has a loop in the back and one at the end of the velcro closure, which you can use to hang it with. Since it’s thin, it can be folded up pretty small and tucked away easily, not taking up much room.

    This cape is water-resistant, but not waterproof. I tested a small amount of water on it, and it rolls off, but when I pool the water in one spot, it soaks through slowly. I was hoping to be able to not only use this for trimming my own hair, but as something to use to keep my clothing clean when I dye my hair. Unfortunately I don’t trust it with hair dye. It isn’t really meant for that anyway. It is, however, great at keeping hair off of my clothing when I do my own hair trims or cuts.

    I like this cape because it’s very affordable (currently at $4.99), super lightweight, easy to use, and easy to store. It’s simple, and I like that. It doesn’t feel cheap either. I think it’s great for hair trims, and it would be great for makeup and other (dry) beauty applications too.
