How do I use the Hermit Crab Sponges?

Step 1

Upon Package Arrival

SunGrow Hermit Crab Sponges are popularly utilized by beginner hermit crab owners because they are so simple to use and have so many benefits. When your package of 3 hermit crab sponges arrives, they will be dry, round, and yellow with a 2” (5cm) diameter.

Step 2

Thin or Thick?

The crab sponges will be thin, around 0.1” (2.54cm) thick until they are submerged in water and thicken up to 1” (2.54cm). The sponge should take up most of the dish area when fully saturated.

Step 3

What is the best way to clean the moisture cocoons?

It is important to replace the hermit crab sponge every day or every other day at the most. Caring for the SunGrow Cellulose Sponges is very easy. First, rinse the used sponge under warm or hot water and then let the sponge air dry under the sun. Once completely dry, put the sponge in the microwave for 10-15 seconds. Make sure that the sponge is thoroughly dry or it will shrink in the microwave. After this, the hermit crab sponge is ready to be placed back in the crabitat.
